STANISLAW DRZEWIECKI performed his first concert tour at the age of six in Japan appearing with the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra.  The following year was the occasion of his Polish television debut performing in concerts once again with the same renowned ensemble.  Famed pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy has declared: "Stanislaw Drzewiecki represents and exceptional talent.  Despite his young age he is a remarkably interesting musician with perfect piano technique."

"Stas," as the now 20 year-old is familiarly known, is the laureate of many prestigious awards, among which are the Grand Prix Award of the 1999 European Television Competition; the 10th Eurovision Grand Prix for Young Musicians in 2000 that was held in Bergen; Norway and viewed by 10 million people; and he is the youngest ever laureate ever accorded the “Paszport Polityki” Award in his native Poland.  His appearances as guest artist with orchestras include touring with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic in Japan; the Wroclaw Orchestra in the USA; the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Belgium; and with both the Silesian Philharmonic and Hanseatica Chamber Orchestra in The Netherlands.  He tours with the Brno Philharmonic in Japan in 2007 and recently  appeared as soloist with the Shenzhen Philharmonic Orchestra in China.

Since his early, youthful performances “Stas” has appeared in many of the world’s most famous concert venues including London’s Victoria & Albert Museum; Bergen’s Grieg Hall; Estonia Hall in Tallinn; Vienna’s Schoenbrunn Palace; the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City; the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles; Chicago’s Symphony Hall; the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia; and New York City’s Lincoln Center.  He has appeared in all of Tokyo’s major venues as well as the Minato Mirai in Yokohama.  In 2003 he appeared with great success in the main hall – Stern Auditorium - of the world’s arguably most prestigious musical venue - Carnegie Hall - receiving enthusiastic reactions from both audience and critics.

This multi-lingual artist, fluent in English, has been honored with invitations enabling him to perform in concerts inaugurating a number of important musical events: the concert season in Basel; Chopin Festival in Canada, Europalia Poland 2001 in Belgium; Days of Polish Music 2002 in Austria; Festival de Radio France in Montpellier; Copenhagen’s Denmark Radio Festival; and the 6th Festival Cultural de Mayo at the Teatro Degollado in Gaudalajara with the Filarmonica de Jalisco.  In 2004, he opened the concert season of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony at Sapporo Concert “Kitara” Hall in Japan.  Re-invited in 2005, he appeared with the same orchestra, led by Alexander Lazarlev, both in Suntory Hall and the Metropolitan Art Space in Tokyo featured in the concert series there presenting some of the world’s outstanding symphonic conductors.

With a repertoire of some 18 piano concertos Stanislaw Drzewiecki’s performances have been under the baton’s of many prominent conductors.  He released his first CD at the age of ten with concertos by Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.  A subsequent two CD’s were nominated for a Frederyk Award in 1998, 1999 and 2000.  His fourth CD, featuring Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E minor and 12 Etudes, recorded with the Sinfonia Varsovia led by Gregorz Nowak in 2000, has gained “gold’ status.  His tenth and latest,  CD, accompanied again by the Sinfonia Varsovia under the baton of Michael Zilm, features Mozart’s Piano Concertos for one, two and three pianos and was produced in the Super Audio CD system.  In 2002, he signed with the Sony Classical label for Poland.  Other labels include DUX, Polish Radio and GHP-Japan.

In 2003, “Stas” made his debut as a composer by writing incidental music for the play The King of Alders based on a ballad by Goethe and commissioned by the Lalka Theatre in Warsaw.  In 2005, his latest piece a Double Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra was premiered in Poland.  Typical of any youth, he has a wide variety of non-musical interests, such as diving, aviation, and plane modeling work, distinguishing himself with some achievements even in his hobbies.
